GLBT Museum in SF

The GLBT Museum is located in the Castro district of San Francisco. This GLBT Museum is an abbreviation to mean Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and as well Transgender. History of GLBT Museum

The beginning of the Bisexual, Lesbian, Gay and Transgender historical museum goes way back to the beginning of the ’80s. That was the time in which Greg Pennington as well as Willie Walker came together and found out that they had a similar attention to lesbian and gay history. Willie Walker and Greg Pennington worked together to combine their own collections of lesbian and gay articles.

Hours and Admission to the Museum

The GLBT Historical museum is open the entire week. It’s open  Monday through Saturday, opening at 11 am and closing at 6 pm. On Sundays, they open at 12 pm and close at 5 pm. The overall admission comes with the price of $5.00, but $3.00 is for students that possess a California student ID. It is free however for subscribed members of the GLBT Historical Society. Most importantly, on the first Wednesday of every month, admission into GLBT is gratis for each patron thanks to a sponsorship from the Bob Ross Foundation.

Grand Opening of the Museum

When the museum first opened, it took place late at night on January 13, 2011. In addition, there was also a proclamation made by the then temporary mayor of San Francisco, Edwin M. Lee. The proclamation was that he declared a date for GLBT History Museum Day in San Francisco. The grand opening drew a lot of attention across the United States and the world in general.

If you’ve had all the indoor tourism you can handle, head on over to Baker Beach, where you will get some fresh Ocean air. You’ll see a lot of locals at this location as well, including some nudists.
