Walt Disney Family Museum Facts

The museum opened in 2009 and shares the interesting life of Walt Disney, the owner of the Walt Disney company. The museum contains 10 galleries designed to take you in stages through the life of the man and all his creative works. The Walt Disney Family Museum is divided into 3 buildings — its offices, the storage area and the main gallery.

Admission tickets cost about $15 youths, $25 for adults and is free for children under the age of 5.

Galleries that Make up the  Museum

Its galleries are arranged in chronological order so you can follow the story from the beginning to the end. It includes :

  1. His early days involving his childhood, growing up and his education.
  2. His move to Hollywood and how he made it to the Mickey Mouse days.
  3. The creation of Mickey Mouse in the 1930s and how it became a hit creation.
  4. His journey to making hit films including Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.
  5. How Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs became a million dollar movie and all the creative activities that led to the making of the movie.
  6. The turbulent days during the World War 2 and how much it affected the studio.
  7. The story of how Walt Disney studio got back to its feet and overcame the difficult days.
  8. Documentary series produced by the studio around nature.
  9. How Walt Disney became a hit TV production in the 1950s and became everyone’s favorite.
  10. The last gallery chronicles the last days of the life of Walt Disney himself and how his legacy lives on.

 

There are several other interesting things to do after visiting the galleries. You could see a movie, attend live music events, listen to lectures, visit the museum’s store, visit Wolfgang Punk; the museum’s Cafe. You could also do something completely different and visit the Asian Art Museum. This will have a whole different impact on a family vacation.
