Telegraph Hill in SF

Telegraph Hill is a beautiful neighborhood in San Francisco.

History of Telegraph Hill

It is one of the original seven hills in San Francisco. The others include Russian Hill, Nob Hill, Lone Mountain, Twin Peaks, Mount Davidson, and Rincon Hill.

This hill was originally known as Loma Atta — High Hill. This was because of its prominent hills. The major attraction centers on Telegraph Hill are Coit Tower, Greenwich Street, and the Filbert Steps. These attractions give the neighborhood a beautiful ambiance.

Attractions to See in the Area

The area is also known to be home to an abundance of feral parrots. These birds were documented in the book, The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (2003). They are beautiful to watch and are part of the reason why this section of SF is an attraction center

Another prominent feature of Telegraph Hill is the steep steps of its streets. Particularly, the Filbert Street Steps features steps that lead to the Coit Tower. These steps are 400 in total. The Coit Tower is a prevalent tourist site where you can enjoy beautiful views of the city of San Francisco. You also get to see amazing colorful murals depicting the history of San Francisco within the tower.

Other prominent places in Telegraph Hill includes the Pioneer Park, Levi Plaza Park The Gantry and Columbus Cafe.

The neighborhood is also known to be a place where you can find excellent diners. It also has beautiful houses with exotic gardens. This is the reason the neighborhood is in high demand for real estate. It is also very peaceful and quiet, with almost no incidents of crime and theft. This is one of the reasons why people would not mind paying the premium for these properties.
