Pier 39 in SF is World Famous

Pier 39 is one of the most famous tourist centers in all of San Francisco. Pier 39 is a popular commercial and entertainment center built on a pier, at the edge of the Fisherman’s Wharf. The pier is the brain work of Warren Simmons. It was officially opened in 1978 to the public.

About Pier 39

On Pier 39, there are over 100 stores to shop. It shouldn’t be hard to find something to buy for yourself and others. The pier has everything, from jewelry, textile, bags, gifts, you’d find it all. The Pier also provides amazing views of other attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, the Bay, and others.

Since the Pier is close to the ocean, there are several boats and ships docked on the port. This is the best opportunity for you to take a mini boat cruise around the Bay. They are cheap and definitely fun.

Ever wanted to see the famous sea lions, or maybe touch them? There’s no better place to do so than at the end of the Pier. You also gain access to sea creatures enthusiasts who can answer all your questions about the sea lions at the Sea Lion Center.

There is also endless live performances for free at the Pier. As long as it is not raining, you would definitely catch a show.

Extra Information about Pier 39

If you are carrying extra luggage and you would not like to move around with it, you can drop it at the Welcome Center. They charge about $5 per bag and you can be sure that your luggage is safe. The Pier 39 Garage is always open, 24 hours every day, in case you want to drive to the Pier.

 

There are lots of fun places to visit while at Pier 39, but for heads up, you can start from the Aquarium of the Bay, The Flyer — San Francisco, The Carousel, Morgan’s Infinite Mirror Maze. And just go anywhere you want to from there.

The next day after visiting this pier, you might check out Fort Mason. This will provide a lot of things for the entire family.
