Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco

Located in Southern part of Fisherman’s Wharf, Ghirardelli Square is a place famous for its good food and wine. It’s also renowned for its special chocolate treats.

Ghirardelli Square History

Its history is actually tied to the original Ghirardelli chocolate factory. The factory was established by Ghirardelli Domingo, an Italian immigrant, in the year 1852. Ghirardelli moved to the North Point — known today to be the Ghirardelli Square.

After the move of the factory somewhere else, the name remained with the neighborhood. The square was named after the industrious owner of the factory.
